LibKey

(Third Iron)

LibKey is a powerful browser extension designed to enhance your research experience by providing seamless access to the HSG-Library's licensed content. The LibKey browser extension has been automatically installed on Microsoft Edge running on computers that are centrally managed by the IT department.

What is LibKey? Outside of HSGswisscovery, it’s not always obvious that members of the University of St.Gallen have access to electronic documents like articles or e-books or newspaper archives. LibKey is a simple tool that integrates directly with your web browser, showing you immediately whether you have access to the full text of articles, e-books, and journals as you search online.

With the LibKey browser extension, the availability of licensed content is presented on the following websites:

Google Scholar PubMed
AmazonWikipedia
ScopusTageszeitungen
Web of ScienceWochenzeitschriften

The Libkey browser extension is available to download on the web browsers Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge, Safari, Firefox, Vivaldi and Brave. The extension for Microsoft Edge was automatically installed on computers centrally managed by the IT department.

When LibKey has been successfully installed you will be asked to select an organisation. Once you have selected “Universität St.Gallen”, LibKey is ready to use.

To access licensed content, you need to be online on campus or using a VPN connection when being off campus.

If you want to remove LibKey, go into your web browser’s settings where you can remove it from the list of installed extensions.

Uninstallation: as the browser extension is centrally distributed, you can’t uninstall it yourself. If you want it removed, just click this link when working on your computer. It will open a preformatted email that you just need to send without further ado. The browser extension will then be removed within the coming days.
