13 February 2019. Competitively organised markets are subject to permanent change. Progressing digitalisation results in new challenges for the economy and for society such as are still hardly conceivable. The first evening, 19 February, will focus on artificial intelligence in healthcare and its opportunities and challenges. The keynote speech will be made by Marcel Salathé, Associate Professor at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). Subsequently, the panel guests will try to answer the question as to what opportunities and risks will result from digitalisation and automation in healthcare.
On 12 March the price watchdog, Dr. Stefan Meierhans, will talk about the economic and legal characteristics of digital markets. How will digital markets work in the future? What role can and should be played by government? Such and similar questions will be discussed by the panel guests after the keynote speech.
On the third and last evening, on 26 March, Aymo Brunetti, Professor of Economic Policy at the University of Berne, will home in on the question of where Switzerland as a financial centre is heading. The subsequent discussion will deal with questions like “How can Switzerland as a financial centre fund change and ensure stability?” and “How will Switzerland still be able to create welfare and jobs in the future?”
After the keynote speeches, experts from business, politics and academia will debate the topic. The panel discussion will be moderated by Dr. Jürg Ackermann, Deputy Editor of the St.Galler Tagblatt daily newspaper.
