Every two years, the HSG publishes a report on its regional impact. According to the latest report, published in 2025, the HSG increased its contribution to the canton's value added to 312.9 million Swiss francs in 2023.
The university, students and event participants bring around 186 million Swiss francs in purchasing power to the canton of St. Gallen. This benefits local businesses, SMEs and the tourism industry.
The HSG is a member of at least 15 local and regional organisations. These include the scientific association Vierländerregion Bodensee, the St.Gallen-Appenzell Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), two St.Gallen neighbourhood associations and the ITrockt association, which proactively addresses the shortage of IT specialists in Eastern Switzerland.
