Dialogue platform in times of crisis

The 39th St. Gallen Symposium will take place on the Campus of the University of St.Gallen (HSG) from 7-9 May 2009. The topic will be "Revival of Political and Economic Boundaries".

23 January 2009. 200 students from all over the world will be meeting 600 personalities from trade and industry, academia, society and politics to debate this year’s topic, "Revival of Political and Economic Boundaries".

Participants will include personalities like Dr. Paul Achleitner, Allianz SE, Prof. Dr. Robert John Aumann, Noble laureate in economics, Wulf Bernotat, E.ON, John Elkann, Fiat S.p.A.,Thomas Hendrik Ilves, State President of Estonia and Hans-Rudolf Merz, President of the Swiss Confederation.

Necessity for active dialogue
The current economic crisis highlights the necessity for active dialogue like no other event. For almost 40 years every May, a global target group of entrepreneurs, top managers, politicians, academics, decision-makers of civil society and students have been cultivating just such a dialogue in the inspiring environment of the University of St.Gallen in Switzerland.

Re-erection of barriers
Under the heading "Revival of Political and Economic Boundaries", this year’s "3 Days in May" will be dealing with the re-erection of barriers in economic and political reality as they can be observed at present.

For this purpose, distinguished personalities like Samuel A. DiPiazza Jr., PricewaterhouseCoopers International, Brady Dougan, Credit Suisse, Riz Khan, Al Jazeera International, as well as Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Singapore’s Minister for Finance, will speak and will seek an exchange.
