Construction work in the Library The Library of the University of St.Gallen will be closed from Monday, 23 August, to Saturday, 11 September, owing to extensive renovation work. During the last week in August and the first two weeks in September, extensive renovation work will be carried out in the Library of the University of St.Gallen. The Library will be closed to the public during that time. Information by e-mail or telephone However, information can be obtained as usual by e-mail or through the Library’s website. In addition, information can be obtained by telephone every day from 8.30 to 9.00 a.m. on +41 71 224 22 70. Online access to databases Databases, e-journals, e-books and the library catalogue can be accessed through the homepage, where books can also be ordered and arranged to be sent to the Vadiana Cantonal Library free of charge. Books can be returned through the book return desk in the foyer in front of the Library of the University of St.Gallen or directly in the Vadiana Cantonal Library. Automatic book-lending machines The renovation work will not only extend to an overhaul of the information and entrance area but also to two new automatic book-lending machines, which have become possible owing to the equipment of the Library documents with RFID technology. Modern security system Added to this, there will a new, modern security system in the entrance area, additional sockets will be installed in the reading and working area of the Library, and general renovation work will be carried out. The Library will reopen on Monday, 13 September 2010.
