
Both areas of the Service Centre ‘StartWeek & Assessment Year’ are coordinated and continuously developed by an experienced core team. Together with student employees, the core team ensures that the start of studies at the University of St.Gallen is a complete success and that newly entering students are well prepared for their Assessment Year.

Prof. Dr. Roman Capaul is academically responsible for the StartWeek and the Assessment Year. He teaches as a titular professor of business administration with a special focus on business education at the University of St.Gallen and is a member of the management team at the Institute for Business Education (IWP-HSG). Roman Capaul is the author of various textbooks on school management and school development as well as methodology and didactics in economics subjects.

Miriam Mrisi, who holds a degree in social sciences, is the head of the Service Centre 'Start Week & Assessment Year' and has been part of the core team since 2011. She studied social sciences at the University of Duisburg in Germany and has been living in Switzerland since 2009. Miriam Mrisi is responsible for team leadership and the overall concept of both areas. She is the one who pulls all the strings. Miriam Mrisi likes to spend her free time taking long walks with her dog Carl-Heinz.

Elisabeth Heidecke, who holds a degree in business administration (FH), has been responsible for the Programme Coordination of StartWeek and its various development projects since April 2025. Prior to this, she worked in (executive education) marketing at various university institutes. With many years of experience in marketing and event management, Elisabeth Heidecke contributes her expertise to the strategic and operational implementation of StartWeek. In her free time, she enjoys music, sports and volunteering at cultural festivals in and around St.Gallen.

Andrea Jaberg, MA in Sociology, has been responsible for Programme Coordination of the Assessment Year and its various development projects since March 2026. Previously, she worked as a senior data scientist at the Office for Data and Statistics of the Canton of St.Gallen. Andrea Jaberg studied sociology at the University of Zurich and has a professional background as a primary school teacher. In her free time, she enjoys camping with her family or participating in sports such as running and hiking.

Fabienne Trösch, business economist HF / Digital Innovation Manager NDS HF, has been working at StartWeek since September 2024. She is responsible for large parts of process and project management, such as space, ressources and time planning, collaboration with numerous internal and external interfaces, and managing and supervising the support crew. Fabienne Trösch previously worked at the Teaching Innovation Lab at the University of St.Gallen, where her responsibilities included supporting the faculty in the further development of their digital teaching. She enjoys spending her free time in nature, in her craft room, or doing Zumba.

Julie Wellan, M.A. Digital Publishing, has been working as Administrative Manager of the Assessment Year since October 2025, acting as an interface between students and lecturers. She also supports the Programme Coordination. Prior to this, she worked in the marketing and publishing industry for ten years, most recently as a senior marketing manager with many years of experience in project management, organisation and coordination. She enjoys spending her free time gardening.

Maurino Buzzi, B.A. HSG, served as a Supervising Tutor in StartWeek 2022. He has been part of the StartWeek student team since February 2025. Together with Elena Metzler, he is responsible for recruiting, overseeing, and training StartWeek Supervising Tutors. Maurino Buzzi is currently completing his master's degree in Business Innovation at the University of St.Gallen. In addition to his studies, he plays the drums and enjoys various sports.

Elena Metzler has been part of the StartWeek student team since February 2026. Together with Maurino Buzzi, she is responsible for recruiting, overseeing, and training StartWeek Supervising Tutors. She is currently completing her bachelor’s degree in International Affairs at the University of St.Gallen. In addition to her studies, Elena Metzler plays the trumpet and enjoys being outside in the mountains.

Gian-Reto Schmid was already working as a tutor during StartWeek 2025 before joining the StartWeek student team in February 2026. He is responsible for recruiting, overseeing, and training the StartWeek Support Crew. Gian-Reto Schmid also acquires product sponsorship for the StartWeek cafés. He is currently completing his bachelor's degree in Business Administration at the University of St.Gallen. In addition to his studies, Gian-Reto Schmid is active in sports and enjoys spending time in nature.

Moritz Schneider was already working as a tutor during StartWeek 2025 before joining the StartWeek student team in February 2026. He is responsible for coordinating the social media channels as well as recruiting, overseeing, and training the StartWeek Media Team. Moritz Schneider also organises the StartWeek closing event and is currently completing his bachelor’s degree in Law and Economics at the University of St.Gallen. In addition to his studies, Moritz Schneider is active in water sports and enjoys surfing, sailing and wakeboarding.
