Between 8 April and 30 June 2025, the Chair of Production Management at the Institute of Technology Management conducted the annual Swiss Manufacturing Survey, designed to provide detailed insights into Switzerland's current strengths as an industrial location. In 2025, the survey was completed by 365 respondents from 350 companies, including 265 SMEs and 68 large companies with more than 249 employees.
The survey contributes to the early identification of future developments, providing companies, industry associations, policymakers and researchers with a basis for decision-making to strengthen Switzerland's position as a business location. Among other aspects, the 2025 edition examined expectations regarding geopolitical developments and the competitiveness of Swiss manufacturing companies.
For participating companies, the results serve as a benchmark, enabling them to evaluate their own development and compare their position with industry peers. Furthermore, the findings are supporting companies to prepare for future challenges and adjust strategies to remain competitive in an international environment.
Based on the survey results, a whitepaper was published in collaboration with Noventa Consulting. The whitepaper examines Switzerland’s competitive position and provides an in-depth analysis of the characteristics that differentiate high-performing companies from the Swiss industry average. Furthermore, it discusses managerial approaches that can facilitate the transition towards higher performance within the manufacturing sector.
