Nikolaus S. Lang newly appointed as honorary professor

1 June 2021. Nikolaus S. Lang was recently appointed as honorary professor at the University of St.Gallen (HSG). He is leader of Boston Consulting Group’s (BCG) Global Advantage practice and a core member of the Goods and Automotive practice. In the last 20 years, Nikolaus S. Lang has advised customers in more than 50 countries with regard to issues in connection with globalisation and mobility. He is a global expert in connectivity, autonomous driving and new mobility, and as such the founder and director of the BCG Center for Mobility Innovation – a team of experts in urban mobility and digital business models. The team advises cities, public transport providers, as well as mobility and automotive companies all over the world with regard to the development of innovative mobility solutions. After graduating from Vienna University of Economics and Business, he obtained a Master’s degree, and later a Doctor’s degree, from the University of St.Gallen. He has been working for BCG in various functions since 1998, and since 2013 has been cooperating with the World Economic Forum, where he is a regular speaker.

His work on topics such as digital platforms, ecosystems and mobility concepts are also highly significant for our students,” said Professor Christoph Lechner, Director of the Institute of Management & Strategy (IfB-HSG). Professor Andreas Herrmann, Director of the Institute for Mobility (IMO-HSG), added: “Dr. Nikolaus Lang is an outstanding entrepreneurial personality who has a worldwide network and an excellent reputation. He’ll be able to provide the HSG with important impulses in research and teaching. We’re pleased that he is part of our faculty and are looking forward to continued cooperation.”

In the future, Nikolaus Lang will lecture on digital platforms/ecosystems in the Master’s programme in Business Management (MUG).
