Award for Rupert Stadler The Academic Association for Business Research has awarded Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi AG and Honorary Professor of Business Administration at the University of St.Gallen, with the prize for the “Science-Oriented Entrepreneur of the Year”. 3 June 2015. The jury based its decision on the fact that Rupert Stadler had rendered exemplary services to the nexus between science and entrepreneurship and looked for scientifically based problem-solving approaches. Interface between business and science Thanks to his multi-faceted active involvement, he had always strengthened the interface between business and academia, particularly in the subject of business administration, with a high degree of commitment. Thus in his capacity as chief executive, Rupert Stadler supported a wide variety of cooperation ventures with academic institutions. Rupert Stadler is Honorary Professor of Business Administration and a member of the board of the Audi Center at the University of St.Gallen, a research centre for Audi AG. In his eulogy, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Roland Berger Foundation, Prof. Dr. Burkhard Schwenker, emphasised that as Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi AG, Prof. Rupert Stadler stood for “sustainability in corporate management and keen awareness of values, both with regard to morals and the quality of goods”. Stadler was particularly committed to his company and his employees without neglecting aspects that were relevant to the environment and geopolitics. He supported application-oriented research activities, thus successfully implementing insights from consumer research. About the prize The prize is awarded to business patrons whose impact transcends daily university and corporate life. In 2015, it was awarded for the ninth time on the occasion of the 77th Annual Meeting of the German based Academic Association for Business Research at the University of Vienna.
