Appointment: Marc Arnold

From 1998 to 2003, he completed his Bachelor's and Master's degree in Business Administration with a specialisation in Finance at the University of Zurich, graduating summa cum laude. He then worked at Credit Suisse from 2004 to 2006 as a product structurer in the trading and sales division. His focus was on the implementation and placement of suitable derivative solutions. In 2007, Prof. Dr Marc Arnold began the SFI PhD programme in Finance, which he completed in 2011 with "summa cum laude". His dissertation "Essays on Corporate Credit Risk" deals in depth with various aspects of the valuation and management of credit risk.

From 2012 to 2018, Prof. Dr Marc Arnold was assistant professor of corporate finance at the Swiss Institute of Banking and Finance at the University of St.Gallen (s/bf-HSG). From 2018 to 2024, he was associate professor of corporate finance at the School of Finance and director of the Institute of Accounting, Controlling and Auditing at HSG. During this time, he also completed two research stays at New York University. Starting in February 2024, Prof. Dr Marc Arnold will be full professor of corporate finance at the School of Finance and director of the Institute of Accounting, Controlling and Auditing at HSG.

Research focus on corporate finance

The focus of Prof. Dr Marc Arnold's research activities is corporate finance. His research interests also cover topics from the fields of banking and financial investment. Prof. Dr Marc Arnold has presented his working papers at numerous international conferences. His work has been published in the Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Finance, Journal of Financial Markets and Journal of Financial Intermediation. He is a referee for numerous journals and conferences. Prof. Dr Marc Arnold also acts as an expert and consultant for practical projects in the fields of corporate finance, company valuation, and risk management.
