Inauguration in Müller-Friedberg-Strasse: HSG invites the general public to an open day

On Saturday, 20 May 2017, the University of St.Gallen will inaugurate its new teaching and research facilities in Müller-Friedberg-Strasse. On this occasion, the general public will be given insights into some of the HSG’s fields of research. The programme is part of the traditional Dies academicus.

15 May 2017. The University of St.Gallen is moving closer to the town centre. This will become visible and palpable with the new teaching and research facilities in Müller-Friedberg-Strasse 6-8, for example. On Saturday, 20 May 2017, the HSG will officially inaugurate the new location after the traditional Dies academicus, the University's greatest day of the year. With a many-faceted and varied programme involving brief lectures, exhibitions and project demonstrations, the University will provide insights into issues on which research is conducted on these premises. In addition, the building will be open to anyone who would like to have a look round. There will also be time for personal encounters over nibbles and drinks, as well as musical entertainment, on the roof terrace.

10 a.m: Dies academicus in the Aula of the HSG (Dufourstrasse 50)

Ceremonial addresses by:

  • Prof. Dr. Thomas Bieger, President
  • Dr. Martin Meyer, journalist (1992-2015 head of the culture section of NZZ), publicist, essayist and author of books
  • Mario Imsand, President of the Student Union

1-5 p.m: Open day in the new teaching and research building (Müller-Friedberg-Strasse 6/8)

350 work stations

The new premises of the University of St.Gallen house three seminar rooms, as well as offices of some HSG research units. With the help of innovative office room concepts tailored to the various requirements, 350 modern cost-effective and efficiently operable work stations were created in this location. At present, the surface of approx. 6,700 m2 is shared by three institutes/research units, two schools, one center and an executive education programme. Additionally, a multifunctional music room is available in Müller-Friedberg-Strasse for student associations which focus on Klang & Ton – sound and tone.
