Book tip for the holiday season Gabriela Dornbierer, Celina Ellensohn and Marlis Werz from the University Library give us a Yuletide book tip for the holiday season. Their tip: the book "Wald" by Doris Knecht. 14 December 2015. Marian, a previously very successful fashion designer, goes bankrupt and withdraws to the old house she has inherited in the Austrian countryside near Vienna, where owing to a lack of alternatives she has to learn to be self-sufficient and to survive with only the bare necessities. Life without luxury In brilliant language, Doris Knecht relates the story of this woman, who after a rapid decline finds herself in a life without luxury, in which the allegedly idyllic country life turns out to be more of a mirror image of a fragile bourgeois world. An intellectually stimulating and thrilling book – highly recommendable! Books for the coming holidays You can find more new works of fiction in our Library.
