WI 2017: Shaping digitalisation with success

The University of St.Gallen (HSG) will host the International Business IT Conference WI 2017 for the first time. The conference will take place from 12-15 February 2017 in St.Gallen. Its topic is "Towards Thought Leadership in Digital Transformation".

27 January 2017. The progressing digitalisation of the economy and of society is the topic of the 13th International Business IT Conference, which is entitled "Towards Thought Leadership in Digital Transformation". This academic conference has been staged biannually since 1993 and in 2017 will take place at the University of St.Gallen for the first time. The Institute of Information Management (ISI-HSG) is expecting some 800 participants from academia, business and politics.

Keynote speakers include representatives of Audi and Ernst & Young, Thomas Saueressig (CIO SAP SE), Dr. Rolf Hollander (CEO CeWe Color Holding AG) and Andreas Maier (CIO AXA Winterthur). Rupert Stadler, CEO of Audi AG, will be speaking about the future of mobility and the automotive industry.

Researchers and practitioners

Executives, students and company founders will exchange their views in formats tailored to their specific interests. A "CIO Dialogue", a "Student Track" and a "Start-Up Track" will provide insights into various entrepreneurial challenges brought about by digitalisation. Researchers will present new approaches to the solution of digital problems. Practitioners will exchange ideas about the management of digital change in firms during the CIO Dialogue. Prof. Dr. Jan Marco Leimeister and Prof. Dr. Walter Brenner, as well as project manager Dr. Christoph Peters, from the Institute of Information Management are responsible for the conference.

Warm-up for the topic "digitalisation"

By way of a warm-up for the conference topics: "Digitalisation reshuffles the cards," says Jan Marco Leimeister in an interview with the University magazine HSG Focus on crowd working and digital transformation. In the HSG video format "Knowledge Bank", the business IT expert explains how companies will be able to face competition in a digitalised world.
