25 Feburary 2016. Dr. Fritz Carl Wilhelm Kausch was posthumously awarded the 2015 Dr. Kausch Prize for his services as a sponsor of research and practice in the field of corporate financial accounting. In 1984, the prize winner established the Fritz Carl Wilhelm Foundation, which has awarded the Dr. Kausch Prize annually ever since. The prize has been awarded at the University of St.Gallen (HSG) since 1986. The final prize was posthumously awarded in this form to the founder in order to honour his life’s work and his services as a sponsor of research and practice in the field of corporate financial and business accounting.

Preserving the tradition of the Dr. Kausch Prize

The Chairman of the Fritz Carl Wilhelm Foundation, Adolf E. Kammerer, handed the prize money in the amount of CHF 75,000 to the Executive Board of the Institute of Accounting, Control and Auditing of the University of St.Gallen (ACA-HSG) with the brief to continue the tradition of the Dr. Kausch Prize.

The ACA-HSG will comply with the wish to preserve the tradition of the Dr. Kausch Prize. Giorgio Behr, Chairman of the Jury for the Dr. Kausch Prize, presented the new concept: "With the new ACA Prize in Financial Management, we will in future no longer award a prize for "lifetime achievements" but for outstanding academic contributions to accounting, controlling, corporate finance and auditing." Behr also said that he himself would endow a prize for outstanding HSG doctorates in the future.

Academic conference planned

President Thomas Bieger extended his thanks to the Fritz Carl Wilhelm Foundation and the Jury for the Dr. Kausch Prize for the fact that they had organised the award of the prize at the University of St.Gallen for 30 years. He said that the University also supported the new ACA Prize in Financial Management which had just been presented because the Institute would always organise an academic conference in the run-up to the award of the prize. At the ACA Research Day, people from academia and practice will be granted an opportunity for an exchange in the fields of accounting, controlling, corporate finance and auditing on the HSG campus.
