25 August 2014. For the third time, the University will be one of the 32 institutions to open its doors on St.Gallen's Museum Night. Visitors will be able to experience the University in a special atmosphere. This year, the special focus will be on the library and its books – for once not for reading, but for a book domino world record attempt.

Book domino world record attempt

Library staff and students of the HSG will put up more than 3,000 books in various serpentine lines and creative fields in cooperation with the young Eastern Swiss domino masters Daniel Huwiler and Jonas Oswald. Schoolchildren will have an opportunity to be involved in the world record attempt and to help build part of the big domino from 5 p.m. onwards. The first book will be pushed at 7 p.m. The University of St.Gallen hopes that the first book will trigger off a chain reaction to reach the last book, thus breaking the existing Guinness Book world record. Children can put down their names in the run-up to the domino construction.

Guided art and architecture tours

The University of St.Gallen houses numerous art treasures. The Museum Night will provide an opportunity to become acquainted with them. ProArt, the University's art association, will regularly conduct guided tours, thus providing visitors with an interesting insight. At hourly intervals, experienced staff will lead guided architecture tours. In this way, works by well-known artists such as Alberto Giacometti, Joan Miró and Roman Signer can be viewed in conjunction with the architecture.
