Nobel Prize winner at the HSG

6 April 2011. The annual Joint Sessions of the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) is the most important political science congress in Europe. About 650 academics from all over the world are expected to participate in this major six-day event, which will be taking place in Switzerland only for the second time since the establishment of the ECPR.

Discussions in 25 workshops

The event is organised by the Institute of Political Science of the University of St.Gallen (IPW-HSG). In 25 workshops, members of political science faculties from all four corners of the globe will discuss their most recent research results and current projects. The working groups will focus on issues such as globalisation, the welfare state, migration, European integration, mediatisation and electoral experiments.

Lecture by a Nobel Prize winner

The highlight of the conference will be a public plenary session on the topic of “Protecting Institutional Diversity” with Elinor Ostrom, Professor of Political Science at Indiana University, Bloomington, and winner of the 2009 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences. She will give her lecture on Saturday, 16 April, at 6.00 p.m. in the Audimax of the HSG.
