Demographic change

13 August 2010. The share of senior people continues to increase in our society, as evidence published in studies reveals. The Eurostat Yearbook of July 2007 predicts that as early as 2050, more than 50 per cent of people in Europe will be over 65. It is therefore all the more important to “understand demographic change in a holistic way”. The WDA Forum will debate the impact of demographic change on areas such as the labour market, the economy, society, politics and academia. An important role is played in this context by the exchange of knowledge and experience at an international level.

Remaining independent in old age
The ageing society stimulates the demand for products and services. It is necessary to make senior people sensitive to how they are able to live autonomously and independently for as long as possible. Leaders are called upon to face different market conditions brought about by demographic change. Research projects dealing with the issues will be presented during the media conference.
