oikos PhD Summer academy 2009 oikos are running the 10th oikos PhD Summer Academy from 30 August to 4 September 2009. Guests include top-ranking academics from all over the world, who will discuss sustainable business models. 31 August 2009. In the course of the Academy, on 2 September, the oikos Foundation for Economy and Ecology at the University of St.Gallen (HSG) will present its new cooperation venture with Mercator Foundation Switzerland: an extension of the oikos PhD Fellowship Program, in which six international doctoral students are doing research on sustainability issues at the HSG. Mercator Foundation Switzerland will fund the extension of the Fellowship Program until 2013 with a total of CHF 451,000. Media representatives have been invited to a background discussion. Reinforce the integration of future issuesoikos PhD Fellows work at selected chairs of the University and substantially reinforce the integration of future issues into university teaching and research. The University of St.Gallen supports the program by funding the oikos PhD Fellowship Lab, in which the young researchers do their scientific work and implement concrete sustainability projects with an international impact. Two new project leadersThe program is newly supporting two outstanding personalities, who will simultaneously work as project leaders in the extension of the international oikos projects: Johannes Schwarzer (Germany) and Liudmila Nazarkina (Russia). They will take up their doctoral studies at the University of St.Gallen (HSG) on 1 September 2009.
