India Symposium 2009

On Friday, 21 August 2009, the Asia Research Centre of the University of St.Gallen (HSG) stages the India Symposium which promotes economic relations between Europe and India.

18 August 2009. On Friday, 21 August 2009, the Asia Research Centre of the University of St.Gallen (HSG) in cooperation with the India Symposium Association staged the India Symposium in Zurich’s Renaissance Hotel. For the fifth time in a row, the Symposium provided top actors from trade and industry, politics, academia and society with a platform for an active exchange of knowledge and experience.

Promotion relations between Europe and India
The Symposium promotes economic relations between Europe and India. The debate focused on “The Economic crisis: challenges and opportunities”. The event was attended by 130 participants from various lines of business and countries, and it gave media representatives a chance to discuss matters with the speakers on site.

Focusing on the crisis
The 2009 India Symposium dealt with the current crisis affecting financial markets and the global economy, focusing on the question as to how the crisis can be successfully and entrepreneurially countered in the Indo-European context.

The debate centered on both the causes of the crisis and on its nature and its impact on industries and enterprises in India and Europe. In addition, panel discussions focused on issues that are specific to individual groups of industries.
