Appointment: Dr. Dinh Thi

Dr. Tami Dinh Thi has been Full Professor of Accounting at the Institute of Accounting, Control and Auditing (ACA-HSG) since 1 February 2014, where she also exercises the function of a Director.

Tami Dinh Thi was born on 6 December 1980. She is a German national.

From 2000 to 2005, she studied business administration at Augsburg University and the University of Örebro (Sweden). After being awarded the degree of a Diplom-Kauffrau, she obtained the degree of a Dr.rer.pol. from Augsburg University. As an assistant professor at the University of Augsburg from 2010 to 2011 and as early as her doctoral studies from 2006 to 2010, she worked as a lecturer at the Universities of Augsburg and Jena. From February 2011, Dr. Tami Dinh Thi was a lecturer at the School of Accounting of the Australian School of Business at the University of New South Wales.

She gained practical experience with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Hamburg, with the Allianz insurance company in Vietnam and with a business consultancy firm in Munich. She also worked for the Schwaben Chamber of Industry and Commerce, in the field of executive education.

Academic prize for doctoral thesis

In the course of her academic career, Dr. Tami Dinh Thi has already received a number of prizes and scholarships. Thus her doctoral thesis on Research and Development (R&D) Expenditures - Empirical Evidence on the Costs and Benefits on the German Stock Market earned her one of the three academic prizes of the Foundation of Augsburg University. The Australian School of Business awarded her several research grants, as did the DAAD, and she also received scholarships from ERASMUS and the Accounting & Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand (AFAANZ).

Furthermore, Dr. Tami Dinh Thi has some publications in peer-reviewed journals and further publications to her credit. She has already presented her work at numerous international academic conferences and has a very good network in the field of research.

Research focus on empirical capital market research

To date, Dr. Tami Dinh Thi has focused on the field of empirical capital market research, particularly on the introduction of international accounting standards, the treatment of research and development diture and various valuation issues. Most recently, she has been conducting more research on incentive mechanisms and has also been using experimental approaches.

Several years of teaching experience

In teaching, Dr. Tami Dinh Thi has several years of experience in the fields of financial accounting and managerial accounting at the Bachelor’s and Master’s Levels, as well as in executive education.

In the future, Dr. Tami Dinh Thi will teach courses in the field of accounting, particularly in the Master’s programme in Accounting and Finance, as well as taking on a certain amount of organisational responsibility for the English-language part of the programme. She was already involved in the field of academic self-administration in the past, thus as a supervisor of exchange programmes and as an equal opportunities officer of the Business-Administrative Faculty of Augsburg University.

In addition, she will exercise the function of a Director at the Institute for Accounting, Control and Auditing (ACA-HSG).
