Appointment: Wolfgang Jenewein

Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Jenewein has been Full Professor of Management at the University of St.Gallen, where he is also Director of the Executive MBA and Center for Customer Insight, since 1 February 2011.

Wolfgang Peter Jenewein was born on 27 March 1969. He has German and Austrian nationality.

He read Business Administration in Munich and Economics at the Leopold Franzens University of Innsbruck. He then concluded his doctoral studies and obtained his doctoral degree at the Institute for Leadership and Human Resource Management (OFPM) of the University of St.Gallen.

Habilitation on internal brand management
From 2001 to 2009, he wrote his habilitation thesis on the topic of Internal Brand Management – unter besonderer Berücksichtigung des Behavioral Branding and received the venia legendi for Management.

Directorship of the HSG’s Executive MBA
From 2000 to 2009, Wolfgang Jenewein was Director of Studies of the Executive MBA of the University of St.Gallen and from 2003 to 2009 of the Global Executive MBA. In addition, Wolfgang Jenewein was Project Leader at the Institute of Marketing and Trade (IMH) of the University of St.Gallen from 2004 to 2009. Until February 2011, Wolfgang Jenewein was Full Professor of Human Resource Management and Executive Education at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule (RWTH) Aachen.

Extensive list of publications
Wolfgang Jenewein has an extensive list of publications and has had publications in leading international journals such as the Zeitschrift für Führung und Organisation (ZfO), the Harvard Business Manager and The Business Case Journal. He has participated in and contributed to numerous conferences, including those of the American Marketing Association (AMA) in San Diego in 2008 and the 37th Annual Conference of the European Marketing Academy in Brighton.

Best Teacher Award

Wolfgang Jenewein is the main lecturer in Leadership and E-ship in various certificate courses and in diploma and Master’s programmes of the University of St.Gallen, among them the EMBA in Aachen and the Diploma Programme for Technology Managers. That is where he received the Best Teacher Award in 2009, which he won for a second time for the 2011/2012 programme.

Research foci
Wolfgang Jenewein has his research foci in the following fields: organisational behaviour in marketing, brand-oriented leadership and leadership in high performance teams. His work is phenomenon-driven and empirical, with both qualitative and quantitative research methods.

Involved in executive education
Wolfgang Jenewein has more than 12 years’ teaching experience, initially primarily in executive education: at present, he is teaching as Principal Lecturer in Leadership in the Executive MBA for Technology Management of the RWTH Aachen. Moreover, he is Principal Lecturer in Leadership and Human Resource Management in the Diploma Course for Legal Professionals at the University of St.Gallen and Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Leadership at the University of Toronto (Rotman School of Management). He teaches Leadership and Human Resource Management in the Diploma Course for Logistics Management of the LOG-HSG of the University of St.Gallen and Leadership and Human Resource Management at the KMU-HSG of the University of St.Gallen.

Director of the Center for Customer Insight (FCI-HSG)
As Director of the Center for Customer Insight (FCI-HSG), Wolfgang Jenewein conducts research and publishes papers about various topics at the interface of marketing, branding and leadership together with his colleagues Torsten Tomczak and Andreas Herrmann.
