HSG Impact Award presented for the first time

26 May 2018. In order to make the societal impact of its research more visible, the University of St.Gallen (HSG) invited its employees to submit research work that has had a clearly discernible impact in practice. The research projects that were submitted reflect many-faceted socially relevant issues such as health policy, the inclusion of people with disabilities and water treatment in developing countries.

A jury of practitioners (Peter R. Voser, Chairman of the ABB Group, and Lea von Bidder, Co-Founder and President of Ava Science Inc.) and members of the University of St.Gallen (Jürg Roggenbauch, Deputy Head of Communication, and Prof. Dr. Kuno Schedler, Vice-President for Reseach & Faculty) selected the following three winning teams from among 33 applications:

• Global Trade Alert of Prof. Simon Evenett, Ph.D.,
• Open Source Behavioral Intervention Platform MobileCoach of Dr. Tobias Kowatsch,
• Futuricum – the success story of e-mobility of Martin Meier, Prof. Dr. Moritz Loock and Angela Honegger

With regard to the presentation of the HSG Impact Award, particular attention was paid to the societal significance and practical implementation of the research, as well as to the question as to the extent to which a research project makes a substantial contribution towards societal, social and economic development.

The award winners receive a premium in the amount of CHF 5,000. In addition, the project is presented online in a brief film trailer.
