SNSF a guest at the HSG

24 May 2011. The Swiss National Science Foundation is Switzerland’s most important research funding institution. But are academics aware of the possibilities it offers, particularly in the promotion of young academics? How can the SNSF support the academic careers of young scientists and their research projects? Anyone who is interested will be able to find out at the Research Day of the SNSF and the HSG.

Overview lecture

The event in the University of St.Gallen’s Main Building will start on Wednesday, 1 June 2011 at 12 noon with an “Info Market” about scholarships, research projects and the HSG Research Services. After welcoming addresses by Prof. Thomas Bieger, President of the University of St.Gallen, and Prof. Dieter Imboden, President of the National Research Council of the SNSF, the SNSF’s funding instruments will be presented by Dr. Daniel Höchli (Director of the SNSF) in an overview lecture.

Panel discussion

The panel discussion chaired by Oliver Gassmann (President of the Research Committee of the University of St.Gallen) with Dieter Imboden, Daniel Höchli and the HSG’s two SNSF Research Councillors, Ulrike Landfester and Andreas Herrmann, will provide an opportunity for critical questions. In the subsequent workshops with representatives of the SNSF, all sorts of interesting things can be learnt about the successful preparation of a funding request. Finally, the HSG Research Services will provide information about funding possibilities in St.Gallen.
