iPad and iPhone enrich teaching The Executive School of Management, Technology and Law (ES-HSG) of the University of St.Gallen is forging ahead with developments and making use of new technologies in teaching. A pilot group of MBA students who will take up their studies at the ES-HSG this September will be given an iPad on their first day. The students will be selected for this group on the basis of a competition in which they will have presented the best ideas to integrate new technologies into the MBA programme. The aim is to equip every new student with an iPad as from 2011.Support for the learning process “We are experimenting with the iPad in order to find out how it can support the learning process in our MBA programme. Since it is flat, small and interactive, it is handier than the conventional, distinctly heavier laptops, which is an advantage for interactive, mobile learning in constantly changing working groups,” says Dr. Rob Straw, Director of the MBA programme.iPhone app as a discussion platformAnother novelty at the University of St.Gallen is an iPhone app, which can be downloaded free of charge in the App Store. It was developed by the ES-HSG for the postgraduate course for technology entrepreneurs. It provides users with an opportunity to be interactively guided from any point on earth to the premises of the Executive Campus, to retrieve programme and room information, and to participate in the Executive School’s community and discussion platforms.
