20 January 2010. Swiss politics is constantly becoming more complex. This does not only force politicians to invest increasing amounts of time but, primarily, to possess a widely-based knowledge in a wide variety of political areas. Politicians usually have to acquire this knowledge painstakingly by themselves.

The Executive School of the University of St.Gallen (ES-HSG) therefore actively supports them with a certificate course entitled “Weiterbildung für Politik (WfP-HSG)” – i.e. further education for politicians.

Economics, management skills and communication
The subject matter of the 15-day course (six blocks of 2½ days’ duration) derives from the fields of economics, management skills and communication, ranging from the explanation of overall economic relationships to the teaching of networked thinking and the advancement of politicians’ communicative skills.

The Executive School of the University of St.Gallen (ES-HSG) is offering this course for the second time. It will start in St.Gallen on 25 February 2010.

Diverse group
In 2009, 16 women and men participated in the first run of this course, which is unique in Switzerland. The group was made up of personalities engaged in political work for various parties, as well as staff from public administration, associations and NGOs. They were coached by established speakers from academia, the economy and politics.
