Support is important – external ones, even more so internal ones

The effects of the pandemic and being a student during these times has shown us the importance of both external, and even more so,  internal support. "You are resilient because your parents, your friends, and your environment helped you and taught you to bounce back," said President Prof. Dr. Bernhard Ehrenzeller in his address. "You are resilient because you know that defeats don't define you, but are ultimately part of our development and serve to shape us in a positive way." Even though students have experienced individual struggles pertaining to the corona pandemic over the past few semesters, he said, those struggles have led us to develop a high level of resilience.

Master Graduation Day 2021

"So... get on your way"

The world is now open to the master's graduates, he said.  They may also look forward confidently to future challenges and can joyfully anticipate everything that awaits them. Bernhard Ehrenzeller summarized: "Your inner resources and values as well as the professional and interdisciplinary competencies that we have imparted to you, that you have acquired and internalized, have made you strong, have made you resilient."

The President concluded his speech with quotes from the classic picture book by Dr. Seuss:

"You're off to Great Places!

Today is your day!

Your mountain is waiting.

So... get on your way."
