Admission test at the HSG

11 July 2017. Since the number of prospective foreign students must not exceed the 25 per cent quota stipulated by law, the HSG conducts a written admission test every year. This year, 448 candidates from 35 countries have put their names down for the admission test of the University of St.Gallen.

The written part of the examination will take place on 12 July 2017 on the campus of the University of St.Gallen. The contents of the test are provided by ITB Consulting in Bonn, Germany. During the examination time, people accompanying the candidates will have an opportunity to go on a guided tour of the campus.

Test and interview

In the written test, five modules will be examined: cognitive skills such as text analysis, quantitative problem solving, language systems, diagram interpretation, as well as pattern recognition. Sample problems are available online. Candidates who are borderline between admission and non-admission are additionally invited for an interview on the following day, which will constitute the basis for the final decision. In the 30-minute oral interview, candidates’ personalities will be looked into, with the focus on their sense of responsibility, critical faculty and social commitment.
