On 23 August 2008 from 10.15 to 13 hours, a panel discussion on “Globalization, Technical Progress and Labor Markets - Causes and Consequences of the Bifurcation of Wages and Income” will take place in the Audimax of the University of St.Gallen. Under the chairmanship of Martin Wolf from the Financial Times, no fewer than four prize winners in economics will take part in the debate, namely Prof. Dr. George A. Akerlof, Prof. Dr. Robert W. Fogel, Prof. Dr. Finn E. Kydland and Prof. Dr. Robert M. Solow. The event will be staged in the context of the 3rd Meeting of the Nobel prize winners in economics organized by the Swedish Riksbank in commemoration of Alfred Nobel. This year, 14 Nobel prize winners and 300 selected young economists from 58 countries will debate current developments in the economy on Lake Constance. 13 prize winners in economics and the Nobel peace prize winner and founder of Grameen Bank in Bangladesh, Mohammed Yunus, will meet promising young economists from all over the world on Lake Constance.
