Projects

This year, apart from the day to day business, the team of the library will also be working on the following larger projects:

  • Alma und Primo:
    • Consolidation Rapido (SLSP tool for courier services and inter library loans): internal workflows and instructions
       
  • Service and supply:
    • Adjustment of opening hours of our Search and Find Service
    • Reorganisation of the collection on the first floor (law, history)
    • Introduction of ALMA Digital Inventory
       
  • Technology:
    • Switch to Teams telephone
    • Change RFID infrastructure provider
       
  • Strategy:
    • Completion of the strategy process and internal optimisation projects

During 2022, apart from our day to day business, we will also be working on the following larger projects:


  • Alma und Primo:

    • Third Iron Libkey: direct link to PDF in HSGswisscovery
    • Database index: future presentation in Primo and on our website
  • Opening and connection to SQUARE:  
    • Adjustment of opening hours, study space availability

    • New CMS (Updating / Optimisation)
       
  • Open Access:    
    • Negotiations, implementation of new Read&Publish-Agreements
    • Coordination with the Vice-President's Board (Research)

During 2021, apart from our day to day business, we have also been working on the following larger projects:

  • Renovation of the library building in spring 2021: provisional circulation desk in the basement of the lower building and relocation of the offices into the containers. Summer 2021: Replacement of old library shelves (around 700 units containing 7.5 km of media) and of the carpet. For autumn term: set up of a newly designed entrance area of the library and moving all offices back into the library building.
  • Alma: production of manuals and adjustment of workflows.
  • HSGswisscovery: continual optimisation of media display and usability.
  • Adjustment of service hours in the library (= library team presence) without reduction of opening hours.
  • Master and PhD study places: new arrangement and conception

During 2020, apart from our day to day business, we have also been working on the following larger projects:

SLSP

Second and third test migration, preparation for Go Live, training of staff.

Covid-19

Adjustments to library operations during lockdown and for reopening. Virtual reading room.

HSGswisscovery

Go Live on the 7.12.2020.

Renovation of the library building

Relocation of the offices into the containers, installation of the temporary circulation desk in the containers during summer 2020, planning of further renovation phase in 2021, public tender for new library shelves.

Learning Center HSG

Collaboration in planning the connection to the Learning Center and redesign of the southern part of the library.

Open Access, research data management

Read & Publish agreements, implementation workflows.

HSGcard competence centre

Implementation of a new card management software, migration of data and functionalities, replacement of validation stations.

During 2017, apart from our day to day business, we have also been working on the following larger projects:

Circulation / Learning Centre

  • "Kooperative Speicherbibliothek Schweiz": Storage of media (published before 1995). Media from the depot will be moved from September 2017, media from the main library from December 2017.
  • New study places on the upper floor of the library: New Inventory with ergonomic furniture and optimisation of the existing study places by adding blinds and additional illumination.

Information resources

  • RDA/GND: various adjustments and clean-ups.
  • Virtual textbook collection (Mannheim model)
  • EIKON: Completed primary installation in institutes
  • Research data management and Open Access: Concretisation and cooperation with the vice-president’s board research.

Purchase / Finances

  • Automatic content analysis for e-books to be expanded to more publishers (already realised with Springer)
