Prof. Dr. Thomas Grisold is an assistant professor (tenure track) at the University of St. Gallen. In his research, Thomas studies how digital technologies change established ways of work and lead to new forms of organizing. Thomas uses mixed-methods research designs where he blends qualitative-inductive theorizing with computationally-intensive analyses of digital traces. He studies digital phenomena through a variety of theoretical lenses, such as routine dynamics theory, affordance theory or predictive mind theory. Thomas’ work has been contributing to research in information systems, organization studies and business process management. An overview of his publications can be found on Google Scholar and ResearchGate. Thomas is teaching courses at the graduate, under-graduate and executive levels at the University of St. Gallen, the University of Liechtenstein and the Vienna University of Economics and Business.

Prior to joining the University of St. Gallen, Thomas worked as an assistant professor at the University of Liechtenstein. He obtained his PhD from the Vienna University of Economics and Business, an interdisciplinary Master’s degree in Cognitive Science from the University of Vienna, and Bachelor’s degree in management and marketing from Staffordshire University, UK. He has been a visiting researcher at the University of Notre Dame (United States), the Queensland University of Technology (Australia), Lancaster University (United Kingdom), the University of Palermo (Italy), and the University of Zagreb (Croatia).
