The Faculty of Italian Language and Literature offers the following courses on Bachelor and Master level : We teach in various fields to provide a progressive approach to addressing topics such as the political and economic, the social and cultural reality in Italy. We also offer language courses at different levels. The Italian language is of interest both culturally and economically, as Italy is not only one of the most important European centres of culture, but is also the country that has established itself as one of the economic powers through the trademark “Made in Italy”. The courses in Italian-language culture offered at the Bachelor’s Level deal above all with the social, political and multifaceted cultural aspects of modern-day Italy. The courses at the Master’s Level are interdisciplinary and thus deal with topics (often in cooperation with professors from the areas of Economics, Law and Political Science) associated with both Italy and the whole of Europe. At the same time, we introduce you to such areas as travel literature, its history and its characteristics, organised crime (from a cultural and legal perspective) and the relationships between politics and culture. For interested persons from the city and the region, Prof. Dr. Renato Martinoni offers a public lecture each semester.
