History is ever-present in public discourse; all political forces refer to it to substantiate their concerns and justify their positions. History researchers can bring critical orientation to the social debate by questioning widespread views and providing new insights. At the Chair of General History, we do this with articles and guest columns in newspapers, interviews on radio and television, and public lectures.
