Global Democratic Governance profile area The main purpose of the profile area "Global Democratic Governance" is to assess the causes, consequences and democratic legitimacy of new forms of governance. The profile area conducts scientific research on the shift between a globalised economy and trade on the one hand, and political decision-making and democratic representation that remain anchored to the nation-state on the other. It thus aims to contribute to the public debate on globalisation and post-national governance. Connecting different disciplines With this aim in mind, the profile area brings together scholars from different disciplines such as political science, economics, international law, public management and communication studies to collaborate in producing first-rate research output. Its activities include the Seminar Series in Global Democratic Governance. The profile area "Global Democratic Governance" contributes also to the teaching activity of the School and University, in particular to the Bachelor and Master programmes in International Affairs (BIA-MIA), and to the promotion of young researchers and doctoral students. The research unit promotes the European Ph.D. Seminar.
