Establishing Entrepreneurship The Dr. Werner Jackstädt Foundation backs the support of young entrepreneurs at the HSG. This allows the University of St.Gallen to actively promote creative talents driven by a responsible entrepreneurial spirit, not only from an academic but also a practical vantage point. Commitment of the Dr. Werner Jackstädt Foundation at the HSG The Dr. Werner Jackstädt Foundation supports a selection of exceptional founder personalities demonstrating a strong entrepreneurial motivation, for a period of four months. The individuals selected for funding are aided by the provision of specific founder’s counseling, contact with suitable investors, funding programs, and a mentor. The Dr. Werner Jackstädt Stipends for Young Entrepreneurs form a core part of the Entrepreneurship Campus. This is an initiative launched across institutes to establish entrepreneurship at the University of St.Gallen. Foundation Dr. H.c. Werner Jackstädt is the former owner and CEO of the global company Jac – one of the world’s leading manufacturers of self-adhesive papers and films. In 2002, he established the Dr. Werner Jackstädt Foundation. He had been constrained to sell his business to an American company for health reasons. With part of the proceeds he then established an independent, charitable foundation domiciled in his home town Wuppertal. The stated purpose of the foundation is to support science and research in media and economics as well as to further the cultural and social life of Wuppertal and to beautify its townscape. Until his passing in 2005, Werner Jackstädt served as Chairman of the Board. Subsequently, his wife Lore Jackstädt has taken over the position. Primary Support: the Economic Sciences In the field of economics, the Foundation has made it a prime goal to support the area of business administration. The scenario in this knowledge domain is constantly changing. This requires new and modern initiatives, which are supported by the Foundation. A special focus is directed towards providing support to young and high-performance researchers and motivating existing programs and institutes to adopt new ideas and initiatives.
