In the Assessment Year, students are taught professional knowledge, introduced to academic perspectives and guided to acquire personal skills that they need for their subsequent studies.
Contact and Independent Studies
These are an integral part of the Assessment Year and consist of the three core subjects:

Law I
Students in the English track must complete the Core Elective Mathematics. (In the German track, two specializations – Economics and Law – are offered; in the English track, only the specialization in Economics is offered.)
Contextual Studies
The Contextual Studies area contains the following subject areas:

Skills includes the courses Introduction to Academic Writing and Integrative Project.

Cultural and Social Sciences includes courses in History, Sociology, Philosophy and Psychology.

Foreign Language allows students to choose among 10 different languages at a variety of levels.
