Admission to the Master's programme in Management, Organization Studies and Cultural Theory (MOK) Programme organised by the School of Management and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, taught in German, selection process for all applicants. Requirements Recognised university degree with at least 180 ECTS credit points You may apply for enrolment in this Master's programme if you hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Law or Humanities and Social Sciences with a minimum average grade (not rounded) of 5.00 (Germany/Austria 2.00) from a recognised university (not university of applied sciences) or complete one before your chosen programme starts. Your degree programme will be recognised if the following criteria are fulfilled: Your degree was awarded by a university, which is recognised in the country where you attended the course. You have completed all course work at a recognised or accredited university. You have completed at least half of the course work onsite at the university awarding the degree. You fulfil the minimum requirements for admission to the Master's degree programme at your home university. Evidence of linguistic proficiency in German At the time of application, you have to demonstrate level C1 (CEFR) proficiency in the German language, which is used as the language of instruction. The University of St. Gallen accepts the following as proof: German as native tongue (= language of instruction at school) recognised Bachelor's degree programme completed in German recognised language diploma, e.g. Goethe certificate C1 Selection process If the formal admission regulations are fulfilled and all documents have been submitted, we forward your application to the MOK Admission Committee for the selection process. A detailed description of the assessment process can be found in the MOK admission rules and regulations. In this selection process, the MOK Admission Committee will assess your essay on a given topic and your letter of motivation. Programme-specific additional requirements Depending on your previous university degree, additional academic credits may be requested upon admission. Undergraduate academic credits In the first year of your Master's degree programme you will need to take the following academic credits in addition to your regular Master's degree credits. It is possible to transfer equivalent credits that have already been achieved. The amount of academic credits, therefore, depends on your previous degree. Business Administration 31 ECTS credit points: Strategic Management (5 ECTS credit points) Marketing (6 ECTS credit points) Fundamentals of Financial Management/MOK (6 ECTS credit points) Economics and Economic Policy: an introduction/MOK (6 ECTS credit points) Innovation Management (compulsory Business Adm. course) (4 ECTS credit points) Introduction to Private Law/MOK (4 ECTS credit points) Cultural and Social Sciences 20 ECTS credit points Evidence of sufficient accounting knowledge All students must provide evidence of sufficient accounting knowledge to successfully complete their Master's degree programme. If you have already acquired sufficient knowledge of accounting during your studies, the evidence can be credited during the admission process. If this evidence is missing at the time of admission, the accountancy examination has to be taken at the University of St.Gallen. Evidence of proficiency in a foreign language All students must provide evidence of language proficiency in two foreign languages to successfully complete their Master's degree programme. You can either pass language exams at the University of St.Gallen or submit recognised external language certificates. The application fee is CHF 250. Applicants with HSG degree use the Pdf-form to apply (see downloads section). Application period: 1 October - 30 April To the online-application Checklist: Documents to be submitted electronically Please have the following information and documents ready to upload: Digital passport photo Signed "General Provisions of the University of St. Gallen" Passport or ID card and, if applicable, a Swiss (permanent) residence permit Curriculum vitae in German – style template Evidence of linguistic proficiency in German Letter of motivation in German – style template Essay on a given topic - essay guidelines Higher education entrance qualification (Swiss maturity certificate, foreign upper secondary school-leaving certificate) Degree documents, if available. Otherwise current official transcripts from each university attended (including exchange programmes and transcripts from unfinished degree programmes). The current transcript must show at least 120 ECTS credit points for courses taken so that we can process your application. In the case of double degree programmes or "joint degrees", transcripts from each attended university including explanatory notes on the course programme must be submitted. If any of the documents are not issued in German, French, Italian or English, you must also submit a certified translation of the document in German or English. Please observe our guidelines "Certified documents and translations". Only one file can be uploaded per bullet point. You can use online tools such as online2pdf.com to create PDF files or to combine several pages into one PDF file. Make sure the files you send to us are legible so that we can process your application without delay. Swiss citizens need their Swiss social insurance number (AHV number) for the application. If you do not know your insurance number, please order a duplicate of your insurance certificate from the Swiss Central Compensation Office in good time. Alternative master's degree programme If you apply online before 31 March you have the option to specify an alternative programme in your application. You may choose one of the following programmes: MBI, MSC, MUG, MAccFin, MEcon, MIL. Only if in the selection process your application is rejected, will your application be checked again. If all formal admission requirements are fulfilled for the chosen alternative programme, the admission process starts for this alternative programme. We process your application The team at the Admissions and Crediting Office checks your data and your electronically submitted documents. Applications which fulfil the formal admission regulations are forwarded to the MOK Admission Committee. You can view the status of your application at any time in your user account. Your application documents are assessed by the MOK Admission Committee A detailed description of the selection process can be found in the MOK admission rules and regulations. The Committee evaluates each application consecutively. We notify you of our admission decision In case of a positive decision of the Admission Committee you will receive an email from us providing you with a link to your Compass postbox. In your Compass postbox you will find the Letter of Admission along with information on documents that you still need to submit. You also receive more information on your programme-specific additional requirements. Make sure you can receive our emails by adding the address firstname.lastname@example.org to your safe sender list in your email settings. You receive the semester fee invoice and joining information for the course Mid-July we will upload the semester fee invoice to your Compass postbox. At the beginning of August we will send you more information on course selection (Bidding), the compulsory introductory Kick-off Days, as well as the HSG Student Guide and Arrival Guide. Submit your degree documents in person into the Admissions Office Your admission is conditional until you submit all the necessary documents. If you have to submit original copies of your documents as per the letter of admission, please submit them to the Admissions Office in person no later than the start of the degree programme (calendar week 38). Certified documents can be posted to us in due time. Please do not send any original copies in the post! As soon as you have presented all the necessary documents, your admission is unconditional. We will send you a confirmation email. Should you not be able to submit the necessary degree documents before the degree programme starts (calendar week 38), we will not be able to admit you.
