Being able to analyse and to understand economic relationships requires solid theoretical expertise. At the same time, a high level of quantitative methodological knowledge is required today, because digitisation is continually leading to new types of data and data structures for which innovative analysis techniques, such as machine learning, are essential. At MEcon, you will learn how to handle this data, which methods to use to analyse it in the best possible way, and how to interpret it economically.
Our research-oriented faculty brings the latest research into inspiring class rooms discussions. Therefore, the MiQE/F provides an excellent basis for moving on to management positions in the private sector or policy institutions as well as for highly selective Ph.D. programmes worldwide. MEcon students experience an international environment with courses taught in English. During your studies, you meet and work with students and lecturers with diverse cultural backgrounds from all over the world. The MEcon supports exchange semesters after you have completed the compulsory courses in the first two semesters of your Master's studies. The University of St.Gallen has exchange agreements with more than 200 partner universities across the world. Moreover, the freemover programme offers the opportunity of an exchange semester with several other universities worldwide.

As a double degree student, you spend the first year at the University of St.Gallen and the second year at one of our partner institutions. Upon completion of two academic years, you will be awarded two Master's degrees.
Alternatively, MEcon students may apply for the CEMS Master's in International Management - a joint project of the community of European Management Schools.
The MEcon provides you with the necessary knowledge and skills to optimally prepare you for versatile careers: in responsible positions in the public sector, in international organisations, in consulting for national and international companies and, of course, directly with nationally and internationally active companies in the private sector in industry and in banking and insurance.
The MiQE/F does not only prepare you ideally for the Graduate Programme in Economics and Finance (GPEF) at the University of St.Gallen, but also offers access to highly selective Ph.D. programmes worldwide.
