Curriculum MPEF 1st year The MPEF is an integrated Master and Ph.D. programme in Economics and Finance which offers high-quality graduate education in economic theory, finance and quantitative methods. Compulsory courses The compulsory courses include eight subjects. You will acquire basic methods and a theoretical knowledge of economics, finance and econometrics, as well as of mathematics and statistics. These courses establish a common basis for all the students with different backgrounds. Core field electives The core field electives involve advanced application-oriented work and problem solving and allow various specialisations. MPEF first year research seminar (4 ECTS Credits): In this seminar, MPEF students have the opportunity to present preliminary versions of their scientific research. The members of the PEF Programme committee will be present at the research seminar and comment and evaluate students' contributions. The total number of credits obtained from compulsory and core field elective courses as well as the first year research seminar is 54 ECTS Credits. Contextual studies Contextual Studies situate the more specialised study in the core disciplines within the relevant social, political, historical, philosophical and aesthetic context. Students take a total of 18 ECTS Credits of contextual study courses during the entire two years of the MPEF.
