Crediting The mutual recognition of course work allows you to graduate from both institutions in just two years. Credit for the MIA degree To be awarded the M.A. HSG degree regular students have to complete a total of 90 credits. As a DDP student, you only complete 60 credits in St.Gallen, while four MALD courses, equivalent to 30 ECTS, can be credited to the M.A. HSG. You can therefore select four courses out of compulsory courses and core electives taken at Fletcher (breadth requirements and fields of study) to count towards your MIA degree. The grades at The Fletcher School are converted for credit in St.Gallen as follows: Grading scale The Fletcher School University of St.Gallen A 6 A- 5.5 B+ 5 B 5 B- 4.5 C+ 4.5 C 4 C- 4 D+ 3.5 D 3 D- 2.5 F 1 Calculation of the grade average The grade average of the M.A. HSG results from the weighting of the completed 90 credits. For Ph.D. studies at the University of St.Gallen, a grade average of 5.0 is required. Calculation of negative weighted credit points The calculation of the negative weighted credit points takes into account the four courses completed at The Fletcher School (30 ECTS), which are credited to the M.A. HSG. Across the total of 90 credits, 13.5 negative weighted credit points may be accumulated. Crediting for the MALD degree To receive the Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy (MALD) according to the regular two-year programme at The Fletcher School, the MALD degree requirements have to be met. Eight of the 16 semester courses are completed at The Fletcher School while the equivalent of 8 additional courses from the MIA are credited comprehensively. The criteria of the breadth requirements and fields of study also have to be fulfilled (for details, please refer to the MALD).
