Area of Concentration Cultures (MA): Borders, Migrants, Ideologies: Contemporary Fears and Politics in Europe and its Fringes
The course of Dr. phil. Jelena Tosic addresses the contested and politicized issues of migration/borders, welfare/social justice and identity/belonging. By exploring related histories and core coordinates of public debates and contemporary fears, the students can develop further a critical and integrative view on the intersections of socio-cultural, economic and political transformations in Europe, its south-/-eastern parts in particular. For her, research and teaching are inextricably linked, which is why the course offers a safe space for discussing and drafting relevant research ideas, results, and projects.
