The Schöller Research Centre supports the Business Administration department at Friedrich-Alexander-University (FAU) Erlangen-Nürnberg. Special emphasis is placed on the promotion of interdisciplinary top-level research and networking in an international context. The award recognises HSG Professor Jan Marco Leimeister for his previous research in the field of business informatics and for a project that investigates how the use of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) influences the working behaviour of employees and can be designed in a human-centred way.

Job crafting with GenAI

"I am very honoured to receive this award. It is also an incentive to continue to drive our research forward at the Institute of Information Systems (IWI-HSG) – especially on the future of digital work and value creation with generative AI – and to network internationally," said Prof. Dr. Jan Marco Leimeister at the award ceremony in Nuremberg. Specifically, the Schöller funding will enable Jan Marco Leimeister's team to carry out a project to research how job crafting can be made possible with GenAI. Job crafting means enabling employees to actively shape their own working environment and their relationships with others, as well as work processes. The research project analyses how the use of generative AI tools influences work behaviour and how good work systems can be designed with GenAI. The central research questions are the type and strength of the effects on employee productivity and skills development. Among other things, neurophysiological measurement methods will be used to gain insights into cognitive processing when using AI. There are also plans to collaborate and share research findings with the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg.

The Dr. Theo and Friedl Schöller Research Centre aims to contribute to the networking of cutting-edge research in Nuremberg in an international context by establishing and maintaining international research networks and by developing lively research collaborations both locally and globally. The research centre was founded in 2009 by the Theo and Friedl Schöller Foundation, which has been supporting research and teaching in the field of business administration since 2002.
