How do markets work that are not centrally organized? And how do the participants in these so-called “matching markets” interact - for example in high school admissions procedures or job markets for young academics? Leeat Yariv, Uwe E. Reinhardt Professor of Economics at Princeton University in New Jersey, USA, is researching these questions. She is giving this year's FGN-HSG Lecture at the University of St.Gallen.
The lecture has been organized annually by the Research Foundation for National Economics (FGN-HSG) since 1988. Over the years, the University of St.Gallen has welcomed numerous renowned economists and social scientists.
The guest speaker Leeat Yariv will take an in-depth look at the experimental evidence for decentralized matching interactions. Understanding how these work informs the design of decentralized and centralized institutions.
The lecture is open to the public and will be held in English. Admission is free. A buffet lunch will be offered afterwards.
