SEPS welcomes Samuel Häfner, Assistant Professor for Microeconomics

We are proud to welcome Prof. Samuel Hafner to the School of Economics and Political Science. Prof. Samuel Häfner is an Assistant Professor in Applied Microeconomic Theory. He is also affiliated with the Zurich Center for Market Design. After completing his Ph.D. at the University of Basel in 2014, Samuel spent post-doc years at the Universities of Basel, Zurich, St. Gallen, and Duke University. From 2020-2022 he was a research scientist at a blockchain startup, the Web 3.0 Technologies Foundation in Zug. He joined the University of St. Gallen in February 2023. Samuel’s research interests are in market design and industrial organization. In his work, he focuses on contracts, contests, and auctions. Samuel also researches the incentives in consensus protocols and blockchain markets more generally.
