With his extensive expertise and impressive credentials, Professor Bruno Biais is set to bring unparalleled knowledge and insight to the University of St. Gallen as he leads the specialized PhD course on 'Blockchains and Cryptocurrencies' in Spring 2024. Holding a PhD in finance from HEC and boasting accolades such as the Paris Bourse dissertation award and the CNRS bronze medal, Professor Biais has established himself as a leading figure in the field of finance.
Throughout his illustrious career, Professor Biais has held teaching positions at renowned institutions such as Toulouse, Carnegie Mellon, Oxford, London School of Economics (LSE), and now HEC. His groundbreaking research on finance, contract theory, and experimental economics has been published in prestigious journals including Econometrica, Journal of Political Economy, American Economic Review, Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, and Journal of Financial Economics.
Notably, Professor Biais has also served as editor of the Review of Economic Studies and the Journal of Finance. He is a fellow of the Econometric Society and the Finance Theory group and has provided invaluable expertise as a scientific adviser to esteemed organizations such as the NYSE, Euronext, European Central Bank, and Bank of England.
Currently, Professor Biais is engaged in a compelling research project titled 'Welfare, Incentives, and Dynamic Equilibrium,' which has garnered support from the European Research Council (ERC) through an Advanced Grant.
