Welcome to the Chair of Finance and Systemic Risk lead by Professor Angelo Ranaldo

Research at Professor Ranaldo's chair covers topics such as asset pricing, international finance, and market microstructure with a particular focus on financial stability, market design, and (unconventional) monetary policy. Professor Ranaldo has published numerous papers in all top-tier academic journals including Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Review of Finance, Journal of Money Credit and Banking, Journal of Financial & Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of International Money & Finance, Journal of Empirical Finance und European Journal of Finance.

Angelo Ranaldo is Full Professor of Finance and Systemic Risk at the University of St.Gallen and member of the School of Finance. He also holds the Swiss Finance Institute (SFI) Senior Chair and is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Zurich. In 2018 Ranaldo was awarded the Wim Duisenberg Fellowship by the European Central Bank. He has served as a consultant and scientific advisor to international institutions such as the Bank of England, the Bank of International Settlements, the European Central Bank and the European Money Market Institute.

Ranaldo's research in these fields are well-documented through numerous publications in peer-reviewed scholarly journals, including The Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, The Review of Financial Studies, the Review of Finance, the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, The Review of Asset Pricing Studies, the Journal of Banking and Finance, the Journal of International Money & Finance, the Journal of Empirical Finance and The European Journal of Finance.

Before joining the University of St.Gallen, Prof. Ranaldo had served for several years as an economic advisor and member of senior management at the Swiss National Bank (SNB). His professional experience also includes a visiting position as Senior Economist at the Federal Reserve of New York and several years in the banking areas of asset allocation and risk management.

After completing his undergraduate and master's studies at the University Bocconi, Angelo Ranaldo obtained his doctoral degree from the University of Fribourg. He also was as a visiting scholar at the New York University – Stern School of Business. Ranaldo's teaching experience includes lecturing at the Universities of Fribourg and Zurich as well as a visiting professorship at Aarhus University in Denmark. Angelo obtained his habilitation at the University of Zurich, Swiss Finance Institute.
