Mastering editorial skills helps writers communicate more effectively with readers. Starting from this premise, this half-day workshop provides the tools needed to edit like a professional editor and thus produce clear, correct and convincing academic writing.

Learning objectives

  1. To explore the elements of clear, correct and convincing academic writing
  2. To introduce and apply a systematic editing guide (based on years of professional practice)
  3. To understand the differences between editing and proofreading.
  4. Overall outcome: The workshop will strengthen participants’ confidence of producing publishable academic writing.

Trainer
Dr. Mark Kyburz is Team Leader English at the HSG Writing Lab (Centre for Academic Writing) and contracted as an editor to the HSG Grants Office. He has almost 30 years of experience as a professional editor and translator of academic books and research articles. His clients include research institutes and universities, government agencies and cultural institutions across Europe.
