Library, University of St.Gallen (HSG)

Welcome to the University of St.Gallen Library

The Library maintains the best traditions of its trade, yet is, up-to-date and modern in design: it has more than 600,000 books, journal volumes and non-books (DVDs, audiobooks, CDs), more than 100,000 e-books and 30,000 licensed journals available to students, faculty members and the public.

Our Library is a specialist academic library. It is publicly accessible and collects information carriers in the fields of economic, legal, social and cultural sciences. You can take the required documents from the shelves and work with them at a workstation or borrow them. The use of the Library and borrowing are free of charge.

Besides academic documents, there is also fiction
Besides scientific documents and information sources for teaching, research and degree courses, the HSG Library also holds a well-endowed department with works on linguistics and literary criticism, a collection of books of fiction, audiobooks, newspapers and magazines of general content, and even a small but sophisticated collection of comics for any readers who are interested.

"Das andere Buch an der Uni"
Ever since 2002, the Library has organised two readings a year in a series entitled “Das andere Buch an der Uni”, to which everyone interested is cordially invited. Many memorable highlights include readings and lively discussions with Peter Stamm, Alex Capus, Lukas Hartmann and Rolf Dobelli.

Opening hours
Our regular opening hours: Mondays to Fridays from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
