Strengthening apprentices The commitment of the Jacobs Foundation sets in motion a project to support apprentices. This is facilitated by a close collaboration between the Institute of Business Education (IWP-HSG) and vocational schools in Canton St.Gallen. Supporting Youths through Bridging Programs "Bridging programs" support youths who do not find an apprenticeship immediately on completing compulsory education. They prepare the youths for the challenges of an apprenticeship as well as subsequent occupations. Alongside initial experiences related to professional careers, it is important for the personalities of youths to be strengthened during this challenging period. Goal The project aims to develop, practically test, and scientifically evaluate concepts targeting the strengthening of youths’ personalities in bridging programs. The conceptual development is linked up with existing experiences made by teachers in participating schools. The purpose is not to re-invent the wheel but to combine the well-proven with the innovative. Central to this runs a close cooperation between the Institute of Business Education at the University and the teachers at vocational schools in Canton St.Gallen.
