HSG admission test

Our admission test is a German-language study qualification test. It is not a test of knowledge but rather of aptitude. The decisive factors are your intellectual capacity, creativity and ability to solve problems.

Requirements
Foreign applicants with a recognised foreign secondary school leaving certificate are eligible to take the admission test.

Date and registration
The admission test is administered annually (in calendar week 28).The next test takes place on 11/12 July 2012. The detailed schedule can be downloaded in the right-hand column. You will be registered as soon as we have reviewed all of your documents which must be submitted by the relevant deadline.

Content
The admission test is divided into five sections: text analysis, quantitative problem solving, pattern recognition, language systems and diagram interpretation.

Schedule
The written test takes place on the first day. The test takes about four hours, including breaks. The test results determine which candidates will be admitted for studies. If your score falls between admission and rejection, you will be invited to an interview on the following day in order to decide whether you will be admitted.

Please note
Only your performance on the admission test is relevant for admission. School grades are not taken into account.

Aids
No aids whatsoever are admissible at the admission test. Pocket calculators, mobile telephones, notebooks, electronic diaries and dictionaries, are strictly prohibited. Students whose native language is not German may use a dictionary without any handwritten notes.

Notification
You will then be notified of your test score in writing.

Repeating the test
You may repeat the test only once, the following year at the earliest.

Military or civil service
If you can demonstrated that you are completing your military or community service when the admission test takes place, you are eligible to submit an application to take the test one year in advance (to be submitted by 30 April). If you wish to repeat the test, you may not do so in the following year, but only in the year thereafter. Internships or attendance of language courses, or similar commitments are not accepted as reasons to take the test early.

Further information

Numerous students meet during their break on the sunny campus in front of the Main Building.
