The following pages define your MIA studies under the Course Regulation 12. If you finish your core studies by the end of spring semester 12, the rules of Course Regulation 06 apply.

Language/duration/credits
Our major is bilingual, taught in German and English, with a large portion of the literature in English. The programme is three semesters. It is possible to begin in either the Fall or Spring Semester. A total of 90 ECTS credits must be completed, organised as follows:

Core studies
The core studies (54 ECTS) are composed of compulsory subjects (18 ECTS), core electives (24 ECTS) and the independent electives (12 ECTS). The latter requirement can be completed with other MIA core electives or courses from other Master’s programmes.

Contextual Studies
Our core programme is supplemented by the Contextual Studies (18 ECTS). These are composed of the areas Leadership Skills (6 ECTS) and Critical Thinking and Cultural Awareness (12 ECTS). The area of Leadership Skills can also be fulfilled by Practice Credits or Campus Credits.

Master's Thesis
The Master’s thesis offers a chance for in-depth exploration of a subject of your choice.
